In 2009, I made a series of pictures based around Japan's apparent fascination with Western culture. I chose to focus on the countries youth, making portraits in Tokyo and Ota.
I'm looking at the project as a work in progress and I hope to travel to the country again to continue making portraits as well as pursuing a separate piece that I've been researching.
The work would not have been at all possible without the kind help of my brother Daniel and his girlfriend Mayu. They gave me a place to stay and offered invaluable assistance through providing much needed translation.
I've included a few examples.
